Lightweight composite structures for modern defence applications

As demand for increased efficiency grows, and light-weighting is a pre-requisite for modern fighting forces, the application of advanced composite components and assemblies becomes the natural choice.  Composite materials provide the ability to customise materials’ properties for each application, ensuring requirements such as ballistic protection, stealth and corrosion elimination can be readily achieved.

PE Composites have been supplying the defence industry since we were established in 1955.  Our ability to provide the sector with components and assemblies, whether the ultimate application is for air, naval or land forces which meet the most stringent of defence performance criteria is already proven. Our customers rank among the leading global defence and engineering contractors and include Atlas Elektronik UK, Babcock, BAE Systems, MSI Defence systems, QinetiQ and Thales.

Utilising all of our broad range of skills which include electronics, hydraulics and comprehensive onsite test facilities, PE Composites are expert in systems integration and as well as manufacturing one-offs, are able to produce small and medium batch runs.

Our comprehensive test facilities, which include hydrostatic pressure test vessels, allows us to conduct viability studies and test prototype components prior to putting them into series production thus ensuring that the solutions we provide for defence applications meet the most demanding of specifications.

Integrating a manufacturer of advanced composite structures at an early stage of defence projects can ensure the realisation of maximum benefits and innovation in composite material design, engineering and manufacture and of course it can be very cost effective. Let’s start a conversation.
