P.E. Composites Ltd is investing in the research and development of a range of application specific smart composite materials. Dependant on the application requirement these materials engineered into composite matrix constructions, can support a number of operationally demanding solutions.

Elimination of corrosion of major components exposed to the effects of sea water and the reduction of the effects of bi-metallic corrosion between structures, fixings and connectors. The result is the reduction of maintenance to the absolute minimum leading to cost effective through life support.

The design, development and manufacture of fully qualified pressure proof enclosures utilising smart composite materials incorporating enhanced fibre reinforcements, new generation resins, and improvements in engineering techniques produce a significantly improved dielectric constant. The reduced dielectric constant results in significantly increased performance from antennas enclosed in structures manufactured using these materials and techniques.

The capability to adopt a fully integrated design approach employing printed circuit discreet components, MICC and RF devices integrated within a composite structure facilitate a reduction in connectors and interfaces. The result is an improvement in reliability, performance and mass budget. This design approach allows for controlled and repeatable manufacturing to be undertaken resulting in superior dependability and a reduction in through life costs.
